The Future of Global Development and Implications for Aid

On October 30, 2023, CGD senior fellow Charles Kenny delivered remarks at the Oxford Martin School, where he is a visiting fellow. His speech, “The future of global development and implications for aid,” focused on global economic change and its impact on the development prospects of low- and middle-income countries, both the challenges and the opportunities.

From the speech:

Rapid development used to be about moving machines to workers and aid could help provide the needed physical capital to do that. Today, rapid development is about moving workers to clients and aid can help provide the needed skills, the human capital.
