Microfinance Pasifika Publications - Journals

Microenterprise: Laying the Foundation for Economic Development, Economic Perspectives, U.S. Department of State, vol.9, no. 1, 2004.
This journal article looks at the South Pacific Business Development Foundation (SPBD), which is an independent, not-for-profit microfinance institution. SPBD provides unsecured loans for the creation of simple and sustainable businesses and is dedicated to serving the financial interests of the poor. The article is written by the founder and president of SPBD, Gregory Casagrande and outlines some of SPBDs loan strategies that have resulted in a near 100 percent repayment rate by its borrowers.
