Following another successful Pacific Microfinance Week  in Nadi, Fiji in 2009, the Microfinance Pasifika Network held the 3rd Pacific Microfinance Week 2011(PMW 2011) in Port Vila, Vanuatu from July 26 - 29.

PMW 2011 was be a week-long series of events, meetings and gatherings of a range of organisations and individuals with interest in promoting the provision of inclusive and sustainable financial services in the Pacific.  Microfinance institutions, development partners, commercial and central banks, learning institutions, government agencies and private companies were all represented at the conference. AusAID was generous enough to provide scholarships for 14 of the 130 people in attendance.

The conference was organised and coordinated by the Foundation for Development Cooperation Pacific, who is the current Secretariat of the Microfinance Pasifika Network.

Also, a word from one of our sponors:

“Fern Software wishes to announce that the winner of the Irish Whiskey was drawn at the closing of the PMW2011 conference.  The winner was Mr Joseph Pumai of the People’s Action for Rural Development Inc, Mt Hagen, PNG.  Congratulations Joseph!”
