Fern Sofware

Stephen Taylor, November 2012

Fern have recently signed up a number of new clients in the Pacific

a)      The Vanuatu Agriculture Development Bank (VADB) has recently signed a contract to purchase Fern’s Abacus DB solution.  Fern are currently in the process of training VADB staff and are hopeful of rolling out this solution in the coming months.

b)      The National Development Bank (NDB) of PNG – though already a Fern client – have just purchased the savings module of our Abacus OneWorld solution.  NDB have recently been granted a savings licence and can now offer full savings features to their members.  They are also investigating additional Fern solutions such as SMS banking and full ATM functionality.

c)       Fiji Public Service Credit Union are in the process of upgrading from an older Fern solution to our Abacus CU solution, which will enable faster transacting, much improved processing and regulatory reporting, as well as the opportunity to offer solutions such as SMS Banking and Mobile Wallet functionality.  It will also hopefully open the way to offer a more affordable, centralised solution, to other Credit Unions and financial institutions in the region.

d)      Pacific Gearing Limited in Port Moresby has recently signed a contract with Fern for our Focus SQL solution.  Fern will commence rolling out Focus in the coming months via our PNG based team.

As a result of this expansion in the Pacific and in keeping with our commitment to exceptional service and support, Fern’s Brisbane office has recently expanded.  Two additional senior developers have joined the team.  Furthermore, a dedicated support and testing team has been established in India, with an additional four staff employed (including a senior support officer who had been previously working in Fern’s Brisbane office).  This new team will provide further support and assistance to our Asia Pacific clients.

Fern have introduced Business Intelligence Analytics features and Directors Dashboard to our Abacus software.   Abacus Business Intelligence Analytics allow your organisation to make better, faster, smarter and more strategic business decisions.  The Abacus Business Intelligence module allows users to “slice and dice” their organisational data to get multiple views of the information available.  Deep diving, instant analytical information can be organised to provide historical, current and predictive views of business operations.  Far more than an historical analysis tool, this will let users make informed and strategic decisions to guide their organisations into the future.

The technology used in a combination of automated update scripts which allow efficient consolidation of multiple disparate databases into a single data warehouse; SQL Cubes functionality which allows users to organise data according to different sources, groupings and dimensions; and a powerful Cubes browser allowing the user to perform all the slicing and dicing, quickly, easily and strategically.  New Cubes are often being added, which allow even more depth of data analysis, ratios and business intelligence, which can all be made available to users with an existing licensing agreement with Fern who have purchased the BI module.

Let Fern’s solutions take your business intelligence to a whole new level.

Fern have recently rolled out a number of Mobile Money solutions.  These include SMS Banking, Mobile Wallet (allowing users to receive, store and send money, as well as pay merchants anywhere at any time), and Mobile Phone banking  (allows clients to view and manage their accounts via mobile phone including checking balances and statements, transferring money between accounts and paying bills).

Two clients in the Asia Pacific region have released these similar solutions in the last 12 months and we hope to launch a number of new offerings in the region over the coming year.
