The Microfinance Pasifika Network has confirmed over fifty of the world’s leading experts from the microfinance sector for the Pacific Microfinance Week 2011 (PMW 2011) to be held at the Warwick Le Lagon Resort and Spa from July 26th-29th.
PMW 2011 is convened by the Microfinance Pasifika Network (MFPN) and organized by the Foundation for Development Cooperation (FDC), with lead sponsorship from the Pacific Financial Inclusion Programme (PFIP) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). After a successful Pacific Microfinance Week in Nadi, Fiji in 2009, the Microfinance Pasifika Network is looking to build upon the great achievements of the last two years throughout the Pacific by highlighting success stories and educating delegates in recent developments across the field.
With experts coming from as far and wide as U.S.A., Belgium, Turkey, Jamaica, Indonesia and throughout Pacific, the event represents a great opportunity for delegates from all fields of the microfinance sector, from commercial banks, major donors, microfinance institutions, communication service providers, credit unions, regulators and remittance services to learn first hand from the best in the world.
‘The true value of the event lies in the diversity of the organizations represented’, a spokesperson from the Foundation for Development Cooperation, the event organizer, said. ‘This conference will provide a unique opportunity for professionals from across the Pacific to engage with leading experts all fields of Microfinance to exchange ideas and formulate solutions to the challenges confronted the sector here in the Pacific.’
The theme for the week is ‘Partnerships and New Opportunities to Build a Brighter Financial Future’ and organizers expect that the links forged across the week will provide the impetus for increased innovation and sustainability in the microfinance sector over the coming years.
PMW 2011 will be a week-long series of events, meetings and gatherings of a range of organisations and individuals which have an interest in promoting the provision of inclusive and sustainable financial services in the Pacific.
Microfinance Pasifika Network thanks its major sponsors, the Pacific Financial Inclusion Programme, the International Finance Corporation, AusAID, ANZ, Fern Software, Digicel, the Reserve Bank of Vanuatu, Westpac and Fiji Development Bank for their great support in helping make this event a reality.
